Common Mistakes First-Time Umrah Pilgrims Should Avoid

Most Umrah problems are avoidable. These are the mistakes we see most often among first-time pilgrims travelling from Pakistan.

Crossing the Meeqat Without Ihram

The most common serious mistake. Enter Ihram before the flight or when the announcement is made. Crossing the Meeqat without Ihram requires returning to it or offering a compensatory sacrifice.

Using Scented Products in Ihram

Scented soap, shampoo, deodorant and wet wipes all break Ihram restrictions. Buy unscented versions in Pakistan before you travel — they are harder to find near the Haram.

Miscounting Tawaf or Sa'i

Use a tally counter, a ring counter or a family member to track circuits. If genuinely unsure, build on the lower number — it is the safer position.

Exhausting Yourself on Day One

Many pilgrims perform Umrah immediately after a night flight and then fall ill for three days. Rest a few hours first; the Haram is open around the clock.

Booking on Price Alone

An unusually cheap package usually hides a distant hotel, a long layover, or shared transport with a four-hour wait. Ask for written hotel names and distances before paying any advance.

Neglecting Hydration and Feet

Drink Zamzam constantly and carry blister plasters. Marble floors and thousands of steps a day are hard on unaccustomed feet.
